On June 26, Boyro Baby announced a voluntary recall of their Round Baby Walkers due to potential lead contamination. The recalled walkers were produced by Hangzhou Christine Trading Co., Ltd., and sold exclusively on Amazon between August 2024 and December 2024.
Testing showed that the brake pads on the round walkers contain elevated levels of lead that violate the federal ban on lead content. Additionally, the walkers do not meet federal safety standards. They can fit through a standard doorway and do not stop at the edge of a step, creating a significant risk of serious injury or death from falls.
The recalled plastic baby walkers, model number US-B01, were sold in black, blue and gray with five levels of height adjustments. Boyro Baby is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue the recall. To date, there have been no reported cases of incidents or injuries.
Why Is This a Concern?
Baby walkers are often marketed as tools to help babies learn to walk and explore their environment. Walkers allow infants to move quickly, often before they have developed the strength, coordination, or awareness to do so safely. This can lead to falls down stairs, tipping over, and access to dangerous areas like hot surfaces or sharp objects.
Exposure to lead can also harm a child’s developing brain and nervous system, even at low levels. Combining physical safety hazards with lead exposure presents a dual threat to infant health and development, making this recall particularly serious for families. Most children with lead poisoning do not look or act sick, so it’s important to speak with a healthcare provider if you suspect any exposure.
What Should You Do?
Destroy* your walker to get a full refund:
- Stop using it right away and disassemble the round baby walker.
- Use scissors to cut the seat cushion into two halves and cut off other accessories to ensure that the product cannot be used again.
- Submit at least three images of the destroyed product, the Amazon recall email, and your Amazon order number to boyrobaby@outlook.com.
- Call your healthcare provider if you are concerned about potential lead exposure.
