On November 19th, Shata Traders Inc. recalled Chef Milk Pan, 24 cm, due to potential lead contamination. The product was distributed to retailers in boxes of 6, which were then sold individually at retailers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. While Nevada was not listed among the distribution states, families in Nevada may still be affected if the product was purchased online, received from out-of-state retailers, or brought in by family and friends.
Milk Pan, 24 cm, Chef
Why Is This a Concern?
Milk pans are used widely across various cultural cuisines. Imported cookware from low- and middle-income countries pose a significant risk of lead exposure. Certain types of imported cookware made from aluminum, brass, and aluminum alloys (like Hindalium/Hindolium or Indalium/Indolium) can release lead during cooking or food storage, which can contaminate meals.
Children and pregnant people are particularly vulnerable to the effects of lead. Even a small amount of lead can be harmful, as it affects a child’s growth, learning, and overall development. Parents should take these next steps to leave lead behind.
What Should You Do?
- Do not use this product to cook or store food.
- Do not donate or refurbish this product.
- Use stainless steel or other safer alternatives whenever possible.
- Call your healthcare provider if you are concerned about potential lead exposure and ask about a blood lead level test.
