Why Is This a Concern?

This recall was added to the ongoing public health alert for ground cinnamon products found with high levels of lead. Ground cinnamon is used across many cultures and in many dishes. Families may be unknowingly exposed to lead if the cinnamon in their pantries is contaminated. Families who use it often may be unknowingly exposed to lead if the product is contaminated.

There is no safe level of lead. Children under six years old and pregnant people are particularly vulnerable to lead exposure. Many children exposed to lead may not look, act, or feel sick. The only way to know if your child has lead poisoning is through a blood lead test.

What Should You Do?

  1. Do not serve this product to your child.
  2. Discard the recalled product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
  3. Call your healthcare provider if you are concerned about potential lead exposure and ask about a blood lead level test.
