On July 23, W.W. Industrial Group announced a recall of Parashore Pear Slices in Juice due to potential lead and cadmium contamination. The pear slices are packaged in a 15 oz can with a best by date of February 19, 2027. The cans were distributed through Grocery Outlet stores across the United States.
Testing revealed high levels of lead and cadmium in the product. The specific lot that tested positive for heavy metals was Lot 3700/01172 6122J, Prod: 02/19/2024, Best by 2/19/2027. No illnesses have been reported as of July 22, 2025.

Grocery Outlet is an affordable grocery store with over 490 locations across the United States, including 15 stores in Nevada. Because this product was sold at a budget-friendly price, it may have been a convenient and accessible option for many families, and likely served to young children—who are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of lead and cadmium exposure.
There is no safe level of lead or cadmium. The presence of lead and cadmium in a food product poses a direct risk, especially if served regularly to children or pregnant people.
Young children are especially vulnerable to heavy metals because their bodies absorb these metals more easily. Exposure during early development can impact learning, behavior, and overall health.
