Product Recall Announcement: Zaarah Herbals Powdered Supplements

Erika Silao

New York Wholesale Group has voluntarily recalled several Zaarah Herbals powdered supplements due to potential elevated levels of lead and arsenic. While no illnesses have been reported, long-term exposure to these substances can pose serious health risks, particularly to children, pregnant persons, and adults. The recalled products were distributed to retailers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California between December 20, 2024 and January 7, 2025. These supplements were sold in clear 100g (3.5oz) jars with gold lids.

Why Is This a Concern?

The recalled products may contain dangerous levels of lead and arsenic, which can cause serious health problems:

  • Lead exposure: Even small amounts of lead exposure can be harmful, especially to young children and unborn babies. Lead can cause learning problems, developmental issues, and brain damage. In adults, chronic lead exposure can lead to kidney problems, high blood pressure, and other health issues.
  • Arsenic exposure: Arsenic can cause cancer, skin problems, heart disease, and diabetes. It can also affect development for babies and young children, as well as increase the risk of cancer later in life.
